The Association is known as
A.L.M.A. which names recalls the title of Our
Lady and is an abbreviated form of Association
of Lourdes Motherwell Aids.
Membership is open to young people who are
approximately 16 years of age and over who wish
to work on a voluntary basis with those with
special needs /sick of the diocese.
The Aims of the Association:
is to
provide an association of people, sick,
those with special needs and able bodied,
particularly youth who work together to
offer Christian, social and material support
to each other.
is to assist with
the sick/those with special needs who
go on Diocesan Pilgrimages to Lourdes
under the guidance of the Motherwell Lourdes
Hospitalite.
is to sponsor sick/those
with special needs and helpers to go to
Lourdes on diocesan and other pilgrimages.
is to be involved
with the sick/those with special needs
within the diocese in whatever area of
need is recognised by the Dioceses and
the Association.
since membership is
interdenominational (helpers and those
with special needs) opportunity is provided
to foster ecumenical relationships.
