Fr Sean O'Shea RIP

It is with sadness that I advise you of the death yesterday of Fr Sean O’Shea, a retired priest of the Diocese who lived in Ireland for a number of years. Fr O’Shea was assistant priest in St Athanasius’ in Carluke from 1949 to 1952, following which he was assistant priest at St Patrick’s in Wishaw until 1959. From 1959 until 1975 he was a Forces Chaplain and on his return to the diocese in 1975 he was assistant priest in St Isidore’s in Biggar. Fr O’Shea returned to Ireland in 1977 where he was parish priest in Bere Island in Co. Cork. He retired to live in Castletownbere in Co. Cork. His funeral will be held in Sacred Heart Church in Castletownbere on Thursday at 11.00 am. May the Lord

Clergy Appointments

Bishop Toal has shared news of the following clergy appointments: Fr James Travers will become Parish Priest of St Mary’s Whifflet and St Bernard’s Shawhead from next weekend – Saturday 10th February. I thank Fr Travers for his willingness to take on this responsibility. He will be assisted by Fr Bernard Makadani Zulu who will continue to reside in St Bernard’s. Fr Bernard will also take on Fr Travers’ visiting schedule at Monklands Hospital and I thank him for accepting this ministry. I thank Fr Jim Grant for his work as Administrator of these parishes over the last six months. It is with saddness we share the news of the death of Father Andy O'Sullivan, a member of the Spiritans (Holy Ghost Fathers) Community in Carfin. The Funeral Mass of Fr Andy O’Sullivan CSSp will be on Saturday 10th February In St Francis Xavier’s Carfin at 11.30pm May the Lord who chose Andy to serve Him as priest, number him among his chosen in heaven.
