Live Rosary each day during May

Responding to the Holy Father's call to rediscover the beauty of the Rosary during May, the Holy Rosary will be prayed live each night during May on the official Diocese of Motherwell Facebook page. Starting on Friday 1st May and continuing each night at 7.00pm, the Holy Rosary will be live streamed online to encourage families and individuals across the Diocese to pray the Rosary. The first Rosary will be led by Bishop Joseph Toal and then each evening thereafter it will be led by one of our seminarians, Religious or lay faithful of the Diocese. Pope Francis encourages faithful to rediscover the Rosary this May

Ahead of the start of the month of May, the month devoted to Our Blessed Lady, Pope Francis has written a special letter, encouraging everyone to pray the Holy Rosary. The Pontiff has also provided two prayers to be included at the end of the Rosary, praying for Our Lady's intercession and protection during this time of trial. Daily Angelus Challenge

Take part in the Daily Diocesan Angelus Challenge!!! Our RE team have launched a new initiative for the month of May, Our Lady's month, encouraging everyone to pray the Angelus every day! Every school day in May, a new Angelus video will be posted on twitter and facebook for schools to join in the Daily Diocesan Angelus Challenge. Locked-in disciples recalled in joint Call to Prayer

As lockdown continues for an extended period in response to the coronavirus pandemic, the Scottish Episcopal Church joins again with other churches this weekend in a Call to Prayer at 7pm on Sunday (19 April). Thirteen Christian churches and organisations across Scotland are taking part in the joint prayer for the fourth consecutive week, with many of those participating also lighting candles. Speaking ahead of the milestone broadcast of a documentary about life as a seminarian in the Scots College in Rome, Bishop John Keenan has revealed he hopes it will encourage new vocations. Bishop Keenan who is President of the vocations promotion agency “Priests for Scotland” said: “The documentary “Priest School” which will be shown on BBC Scotland on Sunday 19th April at 10.15pm offers a fascinating insight into the life of a seminarian training in Rome to become a priest in Scotland. Pope sets up Emergency Fund to support Missionary Work

POPE Francis (above) has established an emergency fund in response to the Coronavirus crisis to support ongoing missionary work throughout the world. The Holy Father set up the special fund via the Pontifical Mission Societies—his official charity for overseas mission—of which Missio Scotland is the Scottish branch. The funds will be directed to communities who have been hit hardest by the global pandemic. Church in Scotland join in Prayer for Palm Sunday

Churches in Scotland are joining together in prayer at 7pm this Palm Sunday, 5 April. The Catholic Church in Scotland is joining, once more, with other Churches in Scotland in inviting Christians across the country to join in prayer at 7pm on Palme Sunday evening. For the last two weeks, thousands of people across Scotland have answered the call to pray at the same time in response to the Covid-19 outbreak. The Vatican's Congregation for Divine Worship has issued a new Votive Mass for in time of Pandemic. The prayers of the Mass have been prepared “specifically to implore God to end this pandemic”. Bishop Toal will offer this Votive Mass live on Facebook at 7.00pm on Friday 3 April to pray for an end to the coronavirus and for all who are suffering. Please join us.
