Catholic Bishops announce resumption of communal worship

Scotland’s Catholic Bishops have welcomed the First Minister’s comments today (Thursday 9 July) on places of worship and have announced the resumption of communal worship in Catholic parishes from 15 July. Commenting on the move, the President of the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland, Bishop Hugh Gilbert said; “Over the past month, our parishes have been preparing for the safe resumption of communal prayer and the celebration of Mass, which is at the centre of the life of the church. New Apostolic Nuncio appointed to the UK

The Holy Father, Pope Francis, has today announced the appointment of a new Papal Nuncio to the UK. Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti, has been appointed as the Pope's official representative to the UK, succeeding Archbishop Edward Adams who retired in January. Archbishop Gugerotti was born in Italy in 1995 and was ordained in 1982 for the Diocese of Verona. He has previously served as Papal Nuncio to Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan (2001-2011), Belarus (2011-2015) and Ukraine (2015-2020). Please pray for Archbishop Gugerotti as he takes up this appointment serving the Catholic Church in the UK.
