Exemplar narrative 1:

St Mark’s, Hamilton:

God’s Creation

Through listening to the scripture Genesis Chapter 2 we were able to discuss how man and woman have been created equally by God and that God has called us into the lifelong faithful union of marriage. Through Education for Love lessons we were able to learn to appreciate God’s creative plan and discuss how creation is ongoing. We were also able to discuss how we can respect and co-operate in God’s creative work by learning about the work of organisations which help to protect nature and promote life. Through the reading of Psalm 139 we were able to give thanks to God

Relationships

During Education for Love and Stories for Thinking lessons, we learned about how we can develop positive, healthy relationships with one another and also grow in our love and relationship with God.  Through class discussion we were able to discuss and reflect upon the sanctity of marriage and how mature relationships with one another can be developed. We spoke about the qualities which are involved in sustaining the lifelong commitment of marriage such as patience. Through art lessons we were able to draw mind maps of what qualities are needed for a positive, respectful relationship.

We also discussed other forms of relationships such as our relationships with friends and family and how these are important in our lives. Through language lessons we were able to talk about someone we have an especially close relationship with and what qualities are important in creating this bond.

We learned about the importance of the bond between mother and child and how this bond starts from the moment of conception and grows with the development of the child in the mother’s womb through watching a DVD and class discussions.
