Congratulations to Fr Danny Rooney, assistant Priest of St Joseph’s Stepps and St Dominic’s Craigend, who celebrates the Golden Jubilee of his Ordination to the Priesthood today.
Ordained in 23rd April 1972 by Bishop Thomson in Our Lady and St Anne’s Hamilton, Fr Rooney has served several parishes in our Diocese over the last 50 years including: St Benedict’s Easterhouse, Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral Motherwell, St. Columbkille’s Rutherglen, St. Bernadette’s Motherwell, St. Luke’s Motherwell, St Margaret’s Airdrie, St. Aloysius Chapelhall and since 2018 St. Joseph’s Stepps and St. Dominic’s Craigend. He has also served as a School Chaplain, Diocesan Vocations Director and Pastoral Director at Chesters College, Bearsden.
Fr Rooney has gone to Rome to celebrate his anniversary with his sister, however will offer a Mass of Thanksgiving on 9th May in St Joseph’s Stepps. We thank Fr Rooney for his faithful service to the Diocese and offer our prayers and congratulations on this special occasion.
