The Church of God is convoked in Synod.
With this convocation, Pope Francis invites the whole Church to question itself on synodality:
a decisive theme for the life and mission of the Church.
This site will accompany the two-year journey (2021-2023) of reflection and sharing in the Diocese of Motherwell.
The Path of Synodality
For a Synodal Church:
Communion, Participation and Mission
Pope Francis invites us all to take part in the Synod which will reflect on these
themes. Every parish is asked to come together in prayer, listening and
discernment to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to us. In communion with each
other, we experience that "we belong to Christ and Christ belongs to God"
(I Corinthians 3.23).
Bishop Toal will mark the beginning of this synodal process with the celebration of Mass in Motherwell Cathedral on Sunday 17th October at 3pm. Make a note of this in your diary and take part in this important diocesan event. Please let your Parish Priest know you wish to attend.
In the nine days between the the Official Opening of the Synod with the Holy Father in the Vatican (9-10 Oct) and the Opening in our own Cathedral (17 Oct), we are invited to join in praying a Novena to invoke the Holy Spirit for a fruitful synod on synodality.
