Bishop Toal has shared news of the following clergy appointments:
Fr James Travers will become Parish Priest of St Mary’s Whifflet and St Bernard’s Shawhead from next weekend – Saturday 10th February. I thank Fr Travers for his willingness to take on this responsibility. He will be assisted by Fr Bernard Makadani Zulu who will continue to reside in St Bernard’s. Fr Bernard will also take on Fr Travers’ visiting schedule at Monklands Hospital and I thank him for accepting this ministry. I thank Fr Jim Grant for his work as Administrator of these parishes over the last six months. Canon Willie Dunnachie who continued to reside in St Mary’s after his retirement as PP will now move to live at St John Ogilvie’s in High Blantyre.
I am pleased to announce that Fr Vincent Lockhart has been appointed by the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples as the National Director for Scotland of the Pontifical Mission Societies (Missio Scotland). Fr Vincent has been acting Director for some time and it is good that his five year term of Office has been confirmed by the Holy See.
Fr Bernard Mournian will cover Fr Alex Stewart’s chaplaincy duties at Fernhill School for a time. I thank him for agreeing to do this.
