It is with great regret that we advise of the death of Canon John B. Healy, a retired priest of the Diocese.
Canon Healy was born on 20th August 1931 in Co Kerry, Ireland, and following his studies at St Kieran's Kilkenny, was ordained a Priest for the Diocese of Motherwell on 6th June 1954 in Kilkenny.
He served as curate in St Brigid's Newmains, St Bernadette's Motherwell and the Cathedral. He served as Parish Priest of Christ the King, Holytown, Sacred Heart Bellshill and St Serf's Airdrie, from where he retired in 2012.
Canon Healy continued to reside in St Serf's following his retirement until he moved to the Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home in Robroyston, where he passed away on Saturday 21st September. May the Lord take his servant to Himself. Requiescat in pace.
Canon Healy's Mortal Remains will be received into St Serf's Church in Airdrie on Tuesday 1st October at 5.00 pm. His Requiem Mass will take place on Wednesday 2nd October at 12 noon, with interment thereafter at St Joseph's Cemetery.
