It is with sadness that we have to advise of the death of Canon Niall Hayes, who passed away last night in Monklands Hospital.
Prior to his retirement in 2012, Canon Hayes was Parish Priest at St John Bosco's Parish in New Stevenston.
Canon Hayes was born in County Clare, Ireland, and was ordained to the Priesthood in 1949. During his 63 of active ministry in the Diocese he served in Sacred Heart Bellshill, St Ignatius' Wishaw, St Anthony's Rutherglen, St Thomas' Wishaw and St John Bosco's New Stevenston.
Further details on the arrangement for his funeral will be given in due course.
